Labor Day

On Labor Day we went to an annual Flea Market in the small town where "Rusty Cottage" is at. It was a scorching 90+ degrees that day so I didn't feel much like taking pictures along with keeping track of a toddler. However, I do have this photo that proves how exhausting our day was.

On another note...over the weekend we moved my husband's 95 year old grandmother out of her apartment and into a nursing home. She had lived in that apartment since 1988 when her husband passed away. I could not believe how much stuff she had. She sent me home with quite a bit of stuff...including vintage fabric, vintage linens, dishes, a vintage purse, etc. I am cleaning some of it up and will then post pictures of it.

Moving her was VERY bittersweet for us. We know that she is better off in the nursing home and won't suffer from loneliness like she has been. But at the same time it is very difficult to watch someone who has lived a long, full life have to leave everything behind and move into a small room. It all started two weeks ago when she overdosed on a certain medication and was appointed a "guardian" or "executor of estate". She was basically forced into the nursing home. The poor thing is just devastated and angry about the whole thing and literally HATES her guardian. She point blank told him that she doesn't like him, trust him or want him for her guardian. I can't really blame her...this guy just suddenly appears in her life, takes all of her money and access to her money, gives her a certain allowance each month and tells her what she can and can't do.

I am at least happy that we can go and get her and bring her to our family gatherings on the weekends. She loves being with all of us and seeing the children.

Please keep her in your prayers that the Lord will give her peace about this entire situation.

Thank you all so much for your loving support and loving comments!

Hi Sweet Anna!
Bless her heart and yours -I can only imagine how hard it is for our elderly. Sigh. She is very blessed to have you all and I know that you will continue to be there for her.
Sweet dreams tonight,
Kim
