Our Anniversary

Two years ago today we stood on a beautiful beach in Narragansett, Rhode Island and promised to be there for each other 'til death parts us.

We were engaged in January 2006 and planned on having a winter wedding that December. The day after attending a friend's wedding in June, we were in a laundromat talking about how we really didn't want to wait until December. I mentioned that I have a lot of family in Rhode Island and that I had always wanted him to see where my father grew up and to meet all of his side of the family. Right then and there in that little laundromat in Maryville, MO we decided to get married in Rhode Island. It was definitely not easy planning a wedding from such a long distance but I had helpful and loving cousins in RI that insisted on helping me. A little over 2 months later we were married. I still can't believe that we did it in such a short amount of time! We married on a beautiful Sunday evening on Scarborough beach, a beach that my father played on many times as a child.

We stayed in Rhode Island, along with my family from MO, for a couple of weeks. We may have forfeited our "honeymoon" time but it was worth it to be able to catch up with family that we don't get to see very often.

Exactly 1 month and 1 day later, on September 14th, I took a pregnancy test and immediately called John at work to tell him that he was going to be a daddy. We had been together since 2002, so we were ready! ;)
